Thursday, April 1- Spring Mountain Ranch Overlook- Moderately Strenuous, 8 miles, 1200 FT. elevation gain. We drive up SR 160 just beyond Mountain Springs Summit and the fire station where we take a road to the right. If we have 4x4’s we can go about a half mile more. Following a trail about 4 miles takes us to the overlook. We return the same way. Meet at the Chevron gas station at 160/159 at 7:30 AM. RSVP- Limit of 15- Coordinator- David Hardy

Saturday, April 3- Anniversary Narrows- Moderate- 5.5 miles- We will caravan from the CVS parking lot at Lake Mead & Hollywood at 8 AM to drive to the trailhead at MM16 on Northshore Road, with a quick stop at MM4 for hikers from the south side, to start this O & B trek. I will use a photo taking nice pace. Limit of 12 hikers so please use the RSVP button to sign up. Coordinator- John Ward
Monday, April 5- Calico Scramble- Moderately Strenuous, 4 miles, 900+ FT. gain, 8 AM- Meet at Sandstone Quarry parking lot by 8:00AM which means no reservation is needed to enter. This hike has lots of scrambling where use of hands is necessary. We will visit the Refrigerator and Arch first, then hike on the Calico Tank trail to an overlook. First break is here. Then we return to Mass Production Wall and head up to another tank overlook. Now we proceed to the large tank overlooking Ash Canyon and take another break. We scramble our way down the back side to Rattlesnake and back to the cars. My pace will be around 1.5 mph. Group size is limited to 6 hikers. Please RSVP. Coordinator - Lettie Gutierrez
Tuesday, April 6- Conglomerate Gardens Loop- Moderately Strenuous- 6.4 miles- 1000 FT gain- It’s our traditional route that starts up the Bunny Trail, then Over the Moon, then back down through this desert garden area on the Kibble & Bits Trail. TH- Cowboy Stables Parking Lot- Time- 8 AM- Driving Directions- If you’re coming from the north, this is located on the left side of Highway 159 one mile past the Red Rock Visitor Center on the right. Or, if you are coming from the south, pass the Red Rock Overlook on the left then turn right about 3/4 of a mile further. No limit/No RSVP- Coordinator- David Gray-
Wednesday, April 7- Big Falls on Snow/Ice O&B- Moderately Strenuous, about 4 miles, 1700FT gain, 8 AM. Remember the last time we did this traditional trek? We were on a hard icy snow pack that was so deep that obstacle rock was NOT an obstacle! In approaching the final turn in the canyon below MT Charleston, you could hear water running under the snow pack in places, as well as, the thunder of the falls. Given this year’s snows, I have a feeling it will be . . . . . . . . Meet at the Mary Jane Falls TH by 8 AM. Google your drive time. No limit/No RSVP- Coordinator- David Gray
Thursday, April 8- White Rock Loop- Moderately Strenuous- We will hike this counterclockwise. It’s all trail, distance of 6 miles and about 1000 FT. elevation gain. Be through the Red Rock Canyon entrance fee booth area by 7 AM so that you’re at the Lost Creek Trail parking area at about 7:30 AM. This lot is on your left just before the Willow Springs TH/Picnic Area. This should be early enough to avoid the need for a reservation. RSVP- Limit of 15- Coordinator- David Hardy-
Friday, April 9- South Summerlin Cliffs O&B (New Trek)- Moderately Strenuous- It’s a 6-7 mile route finding trek with an elevation gain of 1200 ft. The first section is a steep climb up a ridge with Class II scrambling and slippery slopes. We'll return back via this slope. The hike's middle section is an easy loop on top the ridge offering nice views. Our trailhead/meeting point is Oak Leaf Park at 6303 Mesa Park Drive, which can be Googled for your drive time, directions from where you live. It's just half a block west of where Mesa Park Drive intersects with Hualapai. We’ll depart from there by 8 AM. RSVP- Limit of 12- Coordinators- Dave Lavery & Janet Lavey-

Sunday, April 11- Bird Spring Ridges- Note- This route is different from Bird Spring Range, which is set for April 20. Moderately Strenuous- Total distance of 6 miles with an elevation gain of 1500 FT. This is one of two parts of a high ridge above the Cottonwood Valley. Our trek will start from the SR 160 trailhead dirt parking area that is also used for the short version of Badger Pass. After crossing Badger Pass the route heads up a series of ridges to the high point of the small range, then connects with the trail passing through Red Valley on the way back to the vehicles. Early assembly will be at Red Rock Casino with the group leaving at 7:30 A.M. The final assembly point will be the Chevron gas station at the junction of highways 159/160, where you'll will meet the coordinator and any other south side participants for an 8 A.M. departure. Wednesday, April 14, Kraft Mountain Loop- Moderate, 5 miles, 900 FT, 8 AM- Meet at the big wash in Calico Basin. We use a trail to get over to Kraft Mountain trail and then gain 5 Stop. We descend into Lower Gateway where we will encounter several sections where use of hands and sitting down is necessary. Pace will be on the slow side. Limited to 6 hikers. RSVP required. Friday to Sunday, April 16-18- Surprise Canyon Backpack- Surprise Canyon is on the west side of the Panamints and straddles BLM and NP lands. It is 12 ½ miles round trip backpack but not all those miles with the pack. Hike starts at 2700 FT and by the time we reach the ghost town of Panamint City we are at 6700 FT. Plan on wet feet and scrambling around a couple of water falls. This hike includes Panamint City, now a mining ghost town which is accessible only by hiking. HCV’s needed for the last couple of miles to the trailhead. When you commit to this trip you will get more information such as when we leave Las Vegas and the route. Friday, April 16- 4.25 Mile Overlook O&B/North Loop Trail- Moderately Strenuous- Just over 8 mils with a 2700 FT gain in elevation. Consider this traditional route the start of our conditioning and altitude training in preparation for the Mount Charleston trek. . . . . . if the snow allows. The snowy views will be something to see! We begin our route from Trail Canyon Trailhead. We step off at 8 AM- No RSVP/No Limit- Google your driving time. Coordinator- David Gray-

Monday, April 19, Windy Peak- Moderately Strenuous, 5 miles 1400+ FT, 8 AM. Meet at the gas station at the intersection of 159 and 160 at 8:00. We drive to the trailhead at the top of Mountain Springs and tackle Heart Attack Hill to the saddle. After regrouping, we proceed to the peak. Scrambling, use of hands and some class 2 exposure, along with views make this a club favorite. We retrace our steps but will take a ridge down to the cars. Limited to 6 hikers. RSVP required. Tuesday, April 20- Bird Spring Range- Now this is a different hike from the one on April 11. It's rated moderately strenuous with a distance of 6 miles and an elevation gain of 1500 FT. Our route will start from the gravel trailhead parking area about one-half mile south of Highway 160 that is also used for the shorter Badger Pass trek. Starting in a northerly direction, the route goes around the north end of a ridge and meets the Badger Pass Trail. Near this junction the group will begin a cross-country route east up a ridge that connects with the main north-south spine of the small range. The return will be down to Badger Pass on the way back to the vehicles. The early assembly point will be at Red Rock Casino for a 7:15 AM departure, heading for the Chevron gas station at the intersection of Highways 159 and 160 to meet the coordinator and other south side participants. Wednesday, April 21-
Thursday, April 22- Pine Creek Canyon/Fern Canyon- Moderate, 5 miles, but not much elevation. Once we leave the main trail we will be entering the right fork (Fern Canyon) and will scramble as far as the boulder jam and then return the same way. We will be crossing the stream several times but should be able to keep our feet dry. We will encounter tall pines, cottonwoods, and ash trees along with a variety of ferns. We will begin the hike from the Pine Creek Canyon TH at 7:30, which will allow us to get through the fee station before it gets too busy. Best to get through there by 7 AM. Friday, April 23- Rattlesnake Canyon Plus/Red Rock Canyon- Moderately Strenuous- We go the whole way via Class II-III scrambling and bouldering over 3-5 miles with an elevation gain of 800 FT. The Plus- We’ll follow the trail further up into the canyon after visiting the 30-40 FT waterfall. TH- Willow Springs Picnic Area- Time- 8:00 AM- To be on time, try to pass through the fee booth by 7:15 AM. No limit/No RSVP- Coordinator- David Gray

Sunday April 25 -Blue Diamond Canyon #3. Moderately Strenuous- Up to 5 miles- 1000 FT gain- Class II-lll scrambling in a couple of places. We’ll break at the top of the ridge. From there, we’ll follow a trail to the rim of Canyon #4 returning to the cars. Trailhead- Blue Diamond- Be at the park at the start of this small community by 8 AM. It's on your left and is just past the wash bridge on the main drag into town. RSVP- Limit of 15- Coordinator- David Hardy
Monday, April 26-
Tuesday, April 27- Escarpment Loop via Old Town/Shuttle- Moderately Strenuous, some 7 miles, and a 450 FT gain in elevation. The hike will start from the the Earl B Lundy Elementary School in the community of MT Charleston and includes the following trails: Kyle Wash Trail, Acastus Trail, and the Escarpment Loop. Here the descent will be about 750 feet. We could be hiking on snow at the start of this trek. Initial meet-up will be at the Traffic Circle TH Parking Lot across from the Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway Center. Here we’ll set the shuttle required for the drivers. Be there about 10 minutes before 8 AM, which is our departure time. Google your directions and driving time. No limit/No RSVP- Coordinator- David Gray
Wednesday, April 28- Grand Circle West- Moderately Strenuous- Total distance of about 7 miles and a 1099 FT elevation gain with a bit of scrambling at times. Starting at Sandstone Quarry TH we take the Grand Circle Trail over to White Rock area via the mountain road up to the trailhead/parking lot. After a brief stop at the restrooms, we'll make for the Keystone Thrust area for our break. After that, we continue onward up the remnants of a two-track road toward La Madre Peak, but then after a bit, we turn off dropping into a series of washes that lead back down all the way to the cars.
