From there we’ll hike the Pixie and Hike A Bike Trails, which will take us onto the Trough Trail, the new extended route to Telephone Canyon Road. Here we turn up this road a bit to begin the final leg of the hike on the following paths: Upper Cowboy Washington, Old Deer Creek Road, and finally, Stepladder. The shuttle vehicle will be parked at the Stepladder or Traffic Circle Trailhead. Our initial meet-up point will be at the Traffic Circle/Stepladder Trailheads. At 8 AM we'll caravan up the Deer Creek Road to the Juniper Trailhead which is off of Angel Peak Road. The Girl Scout Camp that was there is empty and "closed permanently." The trail that climbs up through the camp and around Pioneer Rock is a beautiful trail with a few trees that cross it. Sunday, July 4th, Canyon 5B- If you don’t want to drive up to the mountains and fight the crowds, let’s meet at the Wheeler Spring parking lot just above Blue Diamond for a hike up the low end of the Goatroper Trail which will drop into Canyon #5. We will branch off into the left fork (#5B) and continue to the upper end. We will return the same way to enjoy as much shade as possible. Much of the route is moderate hiking that requires some 2.5 hours to cover the 4 miles with little elevation gain. Some scrambling. It is going to get hot so meet at 5:45 AM. If coming from Red Rock, this parking lot is on the right just after a large brown sign to not feed the burros. If from the opposite way, it is on the left just after where the mine road goes up BD Hill. RSVP required with a limit of 15 hikers and friends.  Coordinator - David Hardy
