Friday, July 1st, Wallace Canyon and Beyond OB- Moderately Strenuous/Strenuous, 6 miles, 1800 feet of gain, 8:00 AM -We begin on Upper Bristlecone then turn on No Name then turn up on Wallace Saddle Trail. After regrouping at the saddle, we hike over to where the plane crash used to be. We continue around the ridge and cross a dry creek. Following a game trail that goes in and around several ravines, we eventually climb up to a rocky outcropping. After our break, it’s back to the cars. RSVP required. Meet at Upper Bristlecone by 8:00 AM. Coordinator- Lettie Gutierrez
Saturday, July 2nd, Wild Horse Canyon Out and Back- Easy/moderate, 3.5 miles,1000 FT elevation gain, 8 AM- Wild Horse Canyon is one of our favorite MT Charleston hikes. This will wander through the woods up to Cougar Ridge for beautiful vistas and our break point. The reason for the easy/ moderate rating is that the elevation is from 8000 to 9000 FT. You may have some difficulty with your cardio effort. Meet-up- Santa Fe Casino south garage/third level for an 8 AM departure. Coordinators- Ron and Sandi Hindmarch
Sunday, July 3rd, Above Mummy Springs/Exploratory/Loop Route- Strenuous/moderately strenuous, 7 Plus miles, 2200 PLUS FT of elevation gain, 7:30 AM- Now I did this a few years ago but can't locate the original write-up, so I am thinking we decided to do some exploring, "build on" the traditional loop trek (5.5-6 miles) that day. So I am headed back up there! As noted, it's basically the traditional route up through Deer Springs, but as we near the top of the ridge trail, instead of going left, we'll turn right onto the route that curves back up and around taking us into a rather large canyon/bluff area with lots of pines well above (watershed area) the spring. Here the trail ends; it's not far to the top/ridgeline. Above us there's lots of blue sky. We'll bushwhack a bit to top that ridgeline, then head out onto some overlooks situated in and around the cliffs/bluffs/ridgeline on the "south wall" exposure of Mummy Mountain. We'll have great views of MT Charleston, Kyle Canyon, and the top of Mummy's Toe. It's break time now. Heading back, we'll drop down onto the Mummy Springs Trail, head over to Raintree, then return to the cars via the North Loop Trail, Wild Horse Ridge. TH- Deer Creek TH/Picnic Area/pull-off with the vaulted toilets. We’ll step off at 7:30 AM- Coordinator- David Gray
Sunday, July 3rd, Red Springs- Moderate, 4 miles out-and-back and mostly in the shade as we'll start from the Red Springs TH, hike around the south end of Calico Hills going as far as Calico II. Start time- 5:30 AM- If anyone plans to carpool from Red Rock Casino, they should leave that assembly point at 5:15 AM. Meet the coordinator by 5:30 AM at the Red Springs TH/Picnic Area/Calico Basin. Note- If the entrance gate to the picnic area is not open that early, there is plenty of parking along the road. RSVP required, limit of 12 hikers- Coordinator- David Hardy
Monday, July 4th, South Loop Overlook 1.5 OB- Moderately Strenuous, 6 miles, 1800+ feet of gain, 7:30 AM- Be at the Cathedral Rock picnic parking lot for a 7:30 AM departure. Using the South Loop Trail, we hike up to the first overlook where we will regroup. Then it’s less than a mile to Overlook 1.5. After our break, it’s back to the cars. Coordinator- Lettie Gutierrez
Tuesday, July 5th, North Loop Exploration/Cliffs/Bluffs Above Robbers Roost- Moderately strenuous, 5 miles, 1700+ FT, 8 AM- Letttie introduced this interesting and challenging route to me some four to five years ago. We'll head up the North Loop to the trail's High Point Corner, a great landmark to break at. It's here that our real effort begins as we make the steep descent, bushwhacking a bit, on the backside of the ridge we just came up. We're looking to hold a bit to the right as we eventually "connect to the ridge along the lower portion of the North Loop." We skirt past the south side of the North Loop Meadow. The terrain changes here as we complete a loop through "the rock" on high above Robbers Roost. Meet-up- North Loop TH- Time- 8 AM- Coordinator- David Gray-
Thursday, July 7th, Circle Gypsum Hill (Red Rock Hill)- Easy/moderate, 4 miles, 5:45 AM- We will use Molly Trail just below Blue Diamond which includes a dense stand of cottonwoods. The main assembly point will be the gravel parking lot on the right side of the entrance road into the community of Blue Diamond just past the wash bridge where you will meet the coordinator. Starting time for the hike will be at 5:45 AM so participants carpooling from Red Rock Casino will have to leave there about twenty minutes before that. RSVP required/Limit of 15 hikers- Coordinator- David Hardy
Friday, July 8th, Above Cave Springs/Exploratory- Strenuous/moderately strenuous, 5 to 7 miles for the initial effort, elevation gain of 2300 FT plus, 8 AM- A traditional hike that will forever be changed as we make our way up into the cliff faces and bluffs above the spring/horse trough of this well known area of Mummy Mountain. We'll turnoff from the North Loop to the right just before the the trail drops a bit down to the landmark. We'll be trailblazing! Gloves- Coordinator- David Gray
Sunday, July 10th, Pinnacle Rocks via the Land Bridge/Hidden Falls Overlook- Exploratory, rated moderately strenuous with a distance of 6-7 miles,1500 FT gain, 8 AM- The last couple of three times that we have hiked up to the overlook we have explored, heading south, venturing out a bit more with each effort, onto a ridgeline/spine that has very steep sides that seems to connect (land bridge) to the mountainous regions further over to the South Loop Ridgeline Trail area. There's a faint trail to follow on top plus we have noticed that others have built additional firepits/campsites here. We can clearly see the the pinnacles up ahead, possibly just a half mile or more, set around and above the trees and "rock." It's a great landmark, a place to visit, develop new hikes from. TH- Cathedral Rock/South Loop TH parking lot- We'll step off at 8 AM- Coordinator- David Gray

Sunday, July 17th, South Loop Area Snow Chutes/Exploratory- Strenuous, moderately strenuous, estimate 5-7 miles on the initial effort, 1500 FT plus gain, 8 AM- Our route starts in earnest from the Manhole Cover that is located at the end of the Old Forest Road that begins just off from where you climb to Cathedral Rock Peak. Now this landmark is known as it's also the turnoff point for Kay's Upper Kyle Canyon Overlook (aka Hidden Falls Overlook) trek. Here, you go off to the right for her route. Note- The last couple of three times that we went past this landmark, we noticed a trail off to the left that continued back up into the pines and rock above, and eventually to a very large snow chute, canyon that leads toward the top of the South Loop Ridge/Trail area. From our efforts in doing Kay's route, we could clearly see the one chute coming and going. Looking at her hiking maps, we see two chutes. They're well above Little Falls. It's a big area! TH- Cathedral Rock/South Loop Trailhead/parking lot- Step off at 8 AM- Coordinator- David Gray
Sunday, July 17th, Blue Diamond Canyon #3- Moderate, step off at 5:45 AM- We begin from the town of Blue Diamond; the actual trek starts with us scrambling through this deep, narrow piece of geology. DIRECTIONS- If coming from Red Rock Casino, turn right at the sign for Blue Diamond, cross the wash bridge, and after that on the left you'll find parking at the county park. We'll pick up our pace from the M Tree over to Lee Peak. My goal is to reach the top by passing the traditional route involving a few switchbacks over a scree field. You'll find my effort will be a shorter climb with the same level of scree "intensity." Remember, we'll have the same great views that MT Charleston offers! Coordinator- John Hammel
Sunday, July 24th, Blue Diamond Ridges- This moderate early morning hike on the hill across from Red Rock Canyon will cover a distance up to 7 miles starting from the Cowboy Stables TH parking lot along Highway 159. How much the group does will be determined by the temperature increases during the morning. If it stays somewhat cool the destination will be the Las Vegas Overlook. All the uphill is with no sun. Rating should be moderate or a bit more. Participants will gather at Red Rock Casino and leave for the stables at 5:15 AM. The coordinator will meet them at the stables for a 5:30 AM start to the hike. RSVP required/Limit of 15 hikers. Coordinator- David Hardy.
Tuesday, July 26th, South Loop Trail First Overlook- Moderate, 4.2 to 5.5 miles, 7:30 AM- A nice moderate workout requiring a moderate to fast pace up to the First Overlook. Possibly a side trip on the way back over to the Rainbow Community Overlook of the fire area. That would add another mile to a mile and a half to the hike. I’ll leave it open to a vote! Coordinator- John Hammel

We will return on another route to make a loop. The main assembly point will be the gravel parking lot on Hwy. 159 at Arroyo which is the back entrance road to the community of Blue Diamond. Meet the coordinator there by 6 AM- Directions- Turn left onto Arroyo and our parking area is immediately on your right. RSVP required/Limit of 15- Coordinator- David Hardy
